PoSAT-1 was the first Portuguese satellite. It was launched
on September 27th, 1993.
PoSAT-1 program objectives were:
- to enable the participation of portuguese industrial companies in space markets and international space programs;
- to train industrial engineers in space technology;
- to demonstrate, at an experimental basis, services can be provided by small satellites on low Earth orbit;
- to forster scientific and technological activities based upon the satellite subsystems and payloads.
